Restaurant chain scan-to-order

Scan-to-order rolled out across 30 stores — misheard orders basically gone, peak-hour table turnover up roughly 25% (sample data, unverified)

Background and Challenges

A casual-dining chain in the Pearl River Delta with 30 mall-based stores lived the classic lunch-and-dinner rush: servers juggled ordering, running dishes and settling bills, and verbally taken orders went missing or came back wrong. Diners waited longer, and reviews mentioning slow service kept piling up.

Headquarters had its own headache. Menu changes and price updates were announced in group chats, executed differently at each store, so marketing campaigns never landed everywhere at once.

Our Approach

We rolled out Jiandandian, our scan-to-order SaaS. Diners scan the code on their table to order, add dishes and pay; kitchen printers sort tickets by cooking station automatically. Headquarters manages menus, prices and campaigns in one console that takes effect across every store the moment it is saved.

From kickoff to full rollout took about six weeks: one week to catalogue dishes and table codes, a three-store pilot the following week, then cutover store by store across business districts — with staff ordering kept as a second channel for peak hours.

Results

  • Scan-to-order is live at all 30 stores; peak-hour table turnover improved by roughly 25% (sample data, to be verified);
  • Misheard and lost orders have basically disappeared, and kitchen re-fires are noticeably down (sample data, to be verified);
  • Menus and campaigns are configured once and applied everywhere — campaign lead time shrank from weeks to same-day (sample data, to be verified);
  • Perceived waiting time dropped, freeing floor staff to focus on table service.
